Value for Money May 12, 2008
Were the Radiohead tickets worth $110 dollars? I wouldn’t know as I didn’t see them.
We left the house at 6.30pm tonight to travel the 36 miles to the concert. Doors opened at 7.30pm meaning the main event would start at 9ish. Plenty of time you might think.
At 10pm we were still sitting in gridlocked traffic in torrential rain and I mean torrential. This was god is angry, you’d better start on that ark type rain.
At 10.15pm our friends called, they had just arrived the encore had started and people were leaving. Probably imagining as horrendous a journey home. So we gave up and turned round I’m not quite sure why we didn;t do that earlier, so near and yet so far (the Hillary syndrome!).
11.30pm arrived home having spent 5 hours listening to Radiohead on the ipod!
The worst bit? T booked these tickets the minute they went on sale, he loves Radiohead where as I was kind of going on sufferance.
We did manage to have quite a good time on the road trip (!) although it had put me off doing a real one. It would have been better with Twinkies and Coke but still. I still can’t quite believe we missed it!
NB. I actually have no idea what Twinkie are but Americans eat them a lot in books on road trips, I think they are a kind of must have when travelling long distances by car!
Ugh. The only thing worse than wasting a night watching a band you’re not that into is wasting the night NOT seeing them! What was up with the traffic? Was there a major wreck or something?
Oh no, that’s terrible, the frustration must have been horrible.
I sympathize, had Maroon 5 tickets a couple years back and was so sick I couldn’t even get dressed!
As for Twinkies- DON’T EVER EAT ONE! They are the most vile, disgusting things! (Of course I loved them as a kid-sponge cake with cream filling.) Tried one a few years ago for old times sake and all I could taste was the chemicals. Blaghh!
(BTW- I see you’re reading Chi Running- how is it?)
Unbelievable. THAT is an exercise in frustration like no other. I mean, traffic in and of itself is a pain. MISSING A $110 CONCERT????
Carrying it to the “nth” degree.
So sorry for your aggravation :(.
I’m so sorry yall missed it! That SUCKS! For real!
Girl….gag me! I do NOT eat Twinkies!!! I’m more of a beef jerky, sun flower seed girl!!! That is ROAD TRIP fuel food for me!!!! =) HE HE
Oh yeah…about Twinkies…have you ever heard of FRIED TWINKIES? They have those at Fairs?!?!?! It’s a fair food thing!!!! YUCK!!!!
I was watching the Today’s Show this morning while I was getting ready for work (it’s an every morning thing) ANY WAYS I seen yall were getting CRAZY WILD BAD weather!!! At that instance I thought of you and hopping you were okay?!?!?! Keep me posted!!!!
That’s so sad
I tried really hard to get Radiohead but they were BEYOND sold out…like people selling their tickets for $600 a piece sold out. They’re my favorite and I’ve only been able to see them once…sounds like you did have a good night after all though and made the best of it!
Never eat Twinkies! They’re so gross! Apparently there’s something that makes them taste good to a child but once you hit a certain age and have fond memories of twinkies and decide to try one again you find just how disgusting they are! yech!
Tidbit - It was the rain! Roads were flooded. Honestly I’m english and used to rain but really this is unbelievable.
Yvonne - Yup!
Lisa - But surely I have to, just to see how horrid they are? Chi running is good so far. I’ll let you know when I finish and if I see any improvement in running.
Robin - yeah it pretty much sucked!
jeannie - we’re fine, just wet. the weather is completely crazy though!
Chris - wish I’d sold my ticket now! When it got to 9pm and we were still stuck we were hoping they’d cancel so at least we’d get a refund. No such luck the show went on!
I’m quite childish (LOL) so maybe I’ll like Twinkies!
You must feel totally gutted ~ I feel really sorry for you guys.
I like Twinkies. They are cakes wrapped around icing. Yummy!
