Valentine’s Day

I hope you all had a lovely, heart strewn weekend or ignored it completely if, like T, you think it is crass commercialization. Event though he objects to Valentine’s day and being romantic to order, he does usually come up trumps.

So there were roses and truffles and a very yummy brunch at Hank’s, of crab cakes and pouched eggs.

We had to go out for brunch because the MIL arrived in the afternoon and also I tend to fall asleep in my soup course these days.

Yesterday we took her for an epic walk in Rock Creek Park, it was a beautiful day. Today they have gone off to Amish Country. Although I long to see the Amish I am exhausted and a two hours car trip was not appealing. So I am home alone catching up on my blogging, writing and housework (yuck!).

As to the question of quite I always use it as kind of, I think it is a polite british thing. Instead of pointing out anythings faults you qualify the good but saying quite. It was quite nice, she is quite pretty, this is quite good. The whole argument came about because an American friend called my brownies quite nice and I was what do you mean quite! Which lead to the whole what does it mean debate. Thanks for chipping in.

I took this off Melissa’s blog and I love it.

One of my friends is obsessed with Myers Brigg. Sadly he would not agree that this is me I am SO an I. Although I do avoid conflict like crazy!  What are you?

  • Enjoy your day without the MIL and hubby in the way. Sleep all you can now. That boy’s gonna make it tough in a few months.

  • Oh cool I use it the same way you do so I guess I am a bit British too. :) Or I can pretend at least, haha.

  • I use quite the same way and I would have reacted similar! Oh I love brunch, sounds wonderful. I cooked The Ours a three course meal, was nervous but it turned out grand.

  • Interesting on the “quite” bit. I am sure you had a great Valentines, and not just quite a good time. :)

  • I’m soooooooooooooooo with “T” on Valentine’s Day!!!!! I told Mr. “S” NOT to waste ANY MONEY on V-Day because we are going on the cruise in just a few short days!!!!

Your V-Day sounds WONDERFUL and “T” sounds like a total dear!!!! =) Brunch sounds FAB!!! I know want Crab Cakes!!!! YUMMERS!!!!

I hope you have fun with MIL…lol!

I hate to hear you didn’t do the car ride to Amish Country…it’s a TOTAL blast!!!! Mr “S” mom took me a few years back…I loved it!!!! The food ROCKS!!!

  • That ‘quite’ debate is interesting … so Americans wouldn’t use it and if they do it’s more praising than when we do.

I am so going over to check my Myers Briggs out.

  • With me out of a job, we decided not to spend a lot of money on each other and just go out to a nice dinner. It was still quite nice either way. ;)

  • How is it going with MIL??? =)

    Just thinking about ya!!!!! =)
